People who are interested in nature have always been important in citizen science. This spring, bird research will take a leap forward as it will enlist the help of one of the most knowledgeable groups – bird watchers – in a more structured manner.

Naturens kalender is a website where the general public can report signs of spring and autumn in nature. A few years after its start in 2008, the plant calendar was expanded with the bee calendar, and now it is time for the next step: the bird calendar.
Cecilia Kullberg, associate professor at Stockholm University and project manager of the bird calendar, was interviewed by the magazine Extrakt.
