The research is conducted with strong funding primarily by the Swedish Research Council and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. An important part of the Section’s research is conducted in five of the University’s leading research areas: Astrophysics and Particle Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Biological Modelling, Geometry, and Climate, Seas and Environment. The Section is active in three of the Faculty’s identified future areas of research: Astrobiology, Quantum Optics, and Science Education. Internationally prominent research is also conducted in many other areas, often by smaller groups.
