Herd immunity for Covid-19 can be reached sooner than expected

New mathematical modeling results from Tom Britton and Pieter Trapman at Stockholm University among other, show that herd immunity levels are clearly lower than previously calculated, which means that fewer need to be infected before we achieve an immunity protection against further outbreaks and spread of infection. The article is now published in the journal Science.

How tough are grasses: The cost of surviving cold and frost

Jan-Niklas Nuppenau, PhD student at DEEP, is studying grasses growing on soils heated by volcanic activity in Iceland, to find out if they can deal with heat and cold likewise. Or are the costs of maintaining cold tolerance so high, that the ability is lost quickly when no longer needed?

EU grant to Stockholm University for Coronavirus Research

Stockholm University has been granted research funding from the EU to develop antiviral treatment for the new coronavirus. The project is led by Anna-Lena Spetz, professor of immunology.
